St. Paul’s Cub Scout Pack 529
September Pack Meeting
————————————————————
** September 26 – Pack Meeting
————————————————————
So, we’re doing things a little different this year from last year. Instead of running Pack activities every week, we are doing Den Activities for three weeks, then a Pack Activity on the 4th week of the month. This week, in fact, is our monthly Pack meeting. This will be a great time – we’ll be doing awards, achievements, and recognition of the boys and what they’ve been doing over the last several meetings. As the year progresses, you’ll have the chance to see what our boys are doing with their time, and learn a little bit more about what Scouting is about for our Pack.
If you normally drop your son off, especially as a parent of one of our Webelos, this would be a great day to stay and see what we’re up to.
** Popcorn Update
————————————————————
This is just a reminder – if you have collected money, especially checks, bring it in and get it to our Popcorn Colonel (That’s Mr. Jim Mohr!). In addition, bringing in a fully-filled sheet entitles your scout to a chance in the Councilprize drawings, and they get to put a whipped cream pie in the face of the Popcorn Colonel, or perhaps another leader if they want… heh heh. Mr. Jim’s email address is tubaguy62@roadrunner.com (mailto:tubaguy62@roadrunner.com?subject=Popcorn%20Question) – any questions you might have he’ll take care of you.
** Fall Campout
————————————————————
Tigers, Wolves, and Bears Campout
* We’ll be meeting in the Gym at 7:00pm on Friday, and having activities through the evening.
* All boys need to be accompanied by an adult. Mom or Dad is ok – we have a separate sleeping area for Mom’s and their Scouts, just in case.
* We’ll also need both the medical (http://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/parts_ab.pdf) and release forms (http://www.stpaulspack529.com/wp-content/uploads/ActivityConsentFormandApproval.pdf) completed in order for any scout to attend.
* Packing list is HERE (https://docs.google.com/document/d/10eiXc-ZspF6Tpx36XyYNryYnhrBy9FKyhypS072sHE0/edit) . Anyone has any questions, check with your Den Leader or Cubmaster Jonathan
* We’ll be heading home after breakfast and cleanup on Saturday.
Webelos Campout
* The Troop will be running this as a Boy Scouting event, and will give many of our Webelos their first opportunity to see how the Troop operates.
* Cub Scouting is a family activity. Dads are strongly encouraged to attend with their Scout.
* We’ll be meeting in the parking lot behind St. Paul’s at 6:30 on Friday, getting our vehicles packed up and heading out to Camp Schoellkopf.
* Here is information on Camp Schoellkopf: http://www.wnyscouting.org/camping/camp-locations/17411. This web page includes driving directions and a map of the camp.
Drivers also need to provide Driving information to the Pack for the Council’s insurance policy.
* There are 3 Lean-To’s for us to sleep in; anyone who wants to bring a tent is welcome to if they want. Both the pack and troop has some spare gear if necessary.
* The gear list is HERE (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DAreuJOwbfU8ootbldFOwMYBkn700MVw-3jDrrBxYDo/edit) . Anyone who has any questions, check with your Den Leader or Mr. Nagel.
* Activities will continue through to Sunday breakfast, after which we’ll be returning home.
** Parents and Leaders Meeting
————————————————————
Don’t forget – the next parents and leaders meeting is October 14 at Mr. Jonthan’s house. This is your opportunity to voice any concerns and to participate in the successful development of our scouting program. Remember, we’re all volunteers and doing our best at this. We love your input, and we love finding out what we’re doing well and what we can do better.
