Pack 529’s Visit to the Planetarium

On November 21st, 2009 Our Cub Scout pack 529 went on a field trip to the Buffalo State College Planetarium. It was fun, exciting and we all learned a lot about the constellations.

The planetarium is round and has a black ball that’s on a long stick and it projects the stars on the ceiling. In addition to learning some basic constellations we also learned about: Orion, Nebula, and the Pleiades, light pollution, and the nearby galaxy, that’s why I think planetariums are very interesting.

This post was written by Elijah Blumberg, a Webelo 1 in Pack 529.

Webelos II – October 7th

On October 7th, the Webelos II will NOT meet at St. Paul’s. Rather, we’ll be meeting between Logan & Gettysburg on Sheridan Drive. This is near Anderson’s or Demetris‎ Family Restaurant. We will then hike down an old railroad line to Englewood and back again. This is a 3-mile hike as required for the Arrow of Light award.

The 3-mile hike should take us about an hour, so please arrive between 6:30 and 6:45. Pickup at the same spot at 8:00.

Dress for the weather! Bring water, a small snack, a flashlight (if you wish). See your Webelos book for other ideas on how to dress for a day-hike.

If you need to park in the area, please use street parking on either Logan or Gettysburg Ave.
