April showers bring Scouts Outside – April 2013 update

I’m writing this update to you with the pleasure of hearing a rainstorm outside. Wow, it’s not snowing! That means that, as the spring comes on, we’ll be doing more outdoor activities in our Dens and as a Pack. This week we’re back to our regular Den meetings after a week’s vacation.

This month’s activities are coming up quick too! This weekend, on Sunday April 14th we’ll be having our Leaders and Parents meeting. We’re starting to plan out our activities for the remainder of the school year, along with our summer activities. Please be sure to make it for this meeting, as it is your opportunity to contribute your opinions and express any interests or concerns you might have.

The weekend following is our Pack activity to Penn-Dixie, on Saturday April 20th. Penn-Dixie is located in Hamburg, and offers a great opportunity for our scouts and their families to learn about Paleontology (study of fossils) along with basics of geology. Here’s their website: ( , and we invite siblings along with our scouts for this activity. Bring buckets and rocks, because there are tons of fossils to dig up at this awesome location.

Finally, on Saturday April 27th we are pitching in with the Big Kenmore Cleanup ( . As you know, our scouts make a promise every time they come:
“I Promise to do my duty
to God and my country
to help other people
and to obey the Law of the Pack.” This is a great opportunity to contribute to the improvement of the community and to help other people.
